In Thin Air

Also included are the comprehensive liner notes in a hardback book format, brimming with Jackie Morris’ stunningly crafted birds, eggs and nests, captivating photography by Elly Lucas, insightful song notes and lyrics by each of the musicians as well as enlightening pieces of writing by Robert, Jackie, Karine and Seckou.

This piece swirls with fresh, brackish air. The wave-like, hinted coastlines of the layered blues, the star specks and golden isobars all seem to suggest the birds’ flight visions, recalling lifetimes of migration memories.

The title In Thin Air inspired the shell gold feather on the front cover, which delicately shines alone in an expanse of air, echoing the Fallen Feather song from the album. It just so happens that the feather that Jackie used in this artwork was itself a ‘fallen feather’ that she found hiding among artworks in her studio!

We couldn’t resist stocking these shell gold renditions of Tawny Owl feathers, a bird celebrated in folklore as omens, symbols of wisdom, or guardians of the night, from an original by Jackie painted during the many hours she spent crafting images for The Book of Birds and In Thin Air.
